February 2025-April 2025
As a reporting intern at The Waukesha Freeman, I covered a variety of local news stories for both print and digital publication. My reporting ranged from government meetings and community events to feature stories on topics like We Energies’ winter savings tips, the HAWS animal shelter, and a reptile-based therapy program called Reptiles & Resiliency. I conducted interviews with public officials, nonprofit leaders, and local residents, prioritizing accuracy, fairness, and a people-first approach to storytelling. I pitched original story ideas, followed AP style, and consistently met tight deadlines while strengthening my skills in writing, research, and news judgment.
